Thank you for your opinion, as a stockholder, your concerns are legitimate.

Cuts are possible only when there are redundancy, especially in matrix management. The more you cut the more lean and mean you are. Especially if you are required to perform better. GE has been only keeping the top and second best in the industry(recently down to third and fourth best in order to grow).

Montgomery Ward did not get GE's financial resources, that is why they have to close their stores to liquidate outdated inventory. If financial resources are maintained then they can reopen with new merchandising. Retail is only upscale or discount. JC Penny has been switching back and forth several times already. Merchandise turn over is the name of the game in retail. Saturation of upscale or discount merchandise in local territories is the ultimate sin in retail.

In management consulting, company direction is of the utmost importance. Management skills comes from seeing big money change hands and knowledge of where the big money is. Small potato guys can not run big companies. Mr. Welch will do well with HON. Hon is not a Donald Trump's trophy; it is a challange, because as you say it is over priced. But then everything has its price, to get HON you pay that price to own and do what you will. It became an opportunity.
