Diana, you are confusing being a Libertarian with being an Anarchist, IMHO.
You have to interject some realism into your "Libertarian" views.
That is the MAJOR problem I see with many of the Libertarian Party members and the Party itself. They make blanket statements (wishes) that will never cut it if we are going to be a Party of any significance.
And most, if not all, of those statements and positions are of the Anarchist variety. The analogy of the Old West would fit in here. For exmple, vigilanties and Tie Parties-- wonder how many of them were innocent? Leaving your ranch and having it robbed due to no police protection, etc, etc.
(I would like to still have gun duels today, I would have killed three people so far.)
Like some of the Libertarians I know say no public schools, no environamental laws, fee bases police protection. All of those ideas are absolutely insane.
I guess I would like to see the Party move towards pure Constitutionalism and States Rights. That is the key.
If you want to see a almost pure Libertarian society, go to Costa Rica. You have to hire private security for your house, no cops will help you. Most people are armed (I love that!) and vigilanties kill drug dealers and rapists. But, you will be in danger of losing your life... |
