Delta Offers Pilots Salaries
That Top Those at United
By Martha Brannigan
Staff Reporter of The Wall Street Journal

ATLANTA -- Delta Air Lines , facing mounting pressure to resolve its labor woes, offered to pay its mainline pilots the top salaries in the industry, exceeding those of pilots at UAL Corp.'s United Airlines, who won big pay increases last fall.

The Atlanta-based carrier, in a counterproposal Thursday to the Air Line Pilots Association, offered pay raises ranging from 7% to 17.5% for pilots flying various aircraft types in the first year of the contract, with increases spanning from 23% to 34% in total by the fourth year of the pact.

Delta pilots, chafing under a concessionary contract since 1996, have insisted they will strike unless they get raises catapulting them ahead of United pilots. Still, Delta's proposal carries financial risks of its own, since the airline would be shouldering substantial increases in expenses over a four-year contract period, even as the economy is weakening.

By the way my best friend is a manager at Disney World ---occupancy rate was down for the month of January from normaly 80% to 50% at the hotels . It also means their are less people flying

BEST WISHES
