In regards to the rumors 3 weeks ago about cancer lesions spread by an unknown European source, below is an excerpt from Annals of Internal Medicine Feb. 6, 2001 Volume 134 No.3 pp.203-207.
The title of the paper is "inhaled Insulin and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus"

>>No adverse pulmonary effects were observed in our study. In addition, 1- and 6-month studies of intrapulmonary human insulin powder were conducted in rats and cynomolgus monkeys (data on file Pfizer, Inc.). In both species, daily insulin was well tolerated and showed no signs of airway or pulmonary lesions on postmortem gross or histologic examination.<<

Can someone explain the terms gross and histologic in the last sentence and also comment on the length of the testing as to whether that's adequate.
