There is so little wilderness left to fuel our children's imagination. I hope that we are wise enough to protect the few remaining treasures.

I always feel a little sad flying over the Rockies at night, because I can see from the lights that there are almost no undeveloped areas remaining.

I worked as a wilderness ranger one summer in college in the Pecos Wilderness in New Mexico, and it was a great experience. 400 square miles of forest with no roads and no development.

Our world's unsustainable patterns of wasteful consumption make it unlikely my grandchildren will have the same opportunity.
