Some Japanese guy was recently mumbling about the 3G winner is determined by whichever side China goes with.

The recent Red Herring article talked about the dominance of GSM in China, as if it is a negative. We know that is one of the most motivating factors for China to switch to CDMA.

We also know that multi-mode chip is coming, whether it is next week or next month or later this year. That is probably the official turning point from the 80/20 GSM/CDMA world to the 80/20 CDMA/others world.

It is quite apparently that there is major changing of the guards in the telecom industry. Nok, Mot and Ericy choke hold is about to be destroyed not only by the known names such as Samsung and Kyo but also names that the world has never heard of.

Unfortunately, most investors are unaware of these changes and still put the future winners and losers in the same basket of telecom stocks.
