No, Michael, Scott DID change his mind. That is clear from this statement:

What part of "which was not part of this contest" don't you understand?

I realize that the language is somewhat muddled. Now THAT has been a part of the contest from the git-go. :)

I think it's no big deal, hey, it's just a content, it's not a lot of money, and SI is doing the best they can do. But it's also clear that the rules were changed after the start of the game.
