Colin Powell to visit Middle East February 9, 2001 -- Updated 03:29 p.m. EST, 2029 GMT U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell said today that his first visit abroad would be a whirlwind trip to the Middle East. "I need some peace and quiet away the President and his dog Spot", said the former chairman of the joint chiefs of staff "All day long W is on his hands and knees with that dog and the barking is driving me crazy". Apparently acting President Dick Cheney stepped out of the oval office and insisted that Powell babysit the son of former President George Herbert Walker Bush. Former first lady Barbara Bush commented "That boy, sure does love his dog". TP
