ps, Tulvio, as a somewhat simplistic analogy, let's say you make 100K income per year, but then play the lottery and win 50K. So in one sense you could say your income is 150K (to the IRS), but to a bank that wants to give you a loan based on your recurring income, that extra 50K (or the after-tax remainder) is just an asset you have, and is not considered part of your recurring income. imho, same principle should apply to high tech cos who supplement operating income with gains from investments. however, i Notice that many high tech cos. include such gains in their headline "proforma" numbers.
