Another good WDM article. (a few months old) techweb.com an excerpt: Both the presentations and booth activity last week served notice that OEMs and component suppliers of all sizes will play a role in the markets for WDM and photonic switching. A startup-incubator atmosphere prevailed. "It's exciting to see so many small companies moving in to challenge the capabilities of the big guys. WDM is not just about Lucent and Nortel and Fujitsu any longer," said Bookham's Rickman. "When we see others working with polyimide-based switches, or SOI materials, it's as much a justification as it is new competition. "It would be unhealthy for us to be the only ones trying to move broadband optics to standard silicon processes."
