However, it would cost them close to nothing to highlight the effort. They would be able to write a very nice press release upon completion of the project, which would benefit them I believe

I wholly agree and I will definitely have to highlight that several times in the letter. If people want to, we can write the letter here, with everyone agreeing on what is said, before we actually send it.
