Leaps, which are essentially calls with a lot of time, work the same way as any other option to the best of my knowledge. The writer of the Leaps is responsible for share splits, breakups, etc - which is not usually a problem since most writers of calls own the underlying stock.

What strike price, time and price did you have to pay. If you don't mind?
