Brian, One thought is that Intel knew that product transition
to MMX might take 2Q and 3Q, and that earnings shortfall MIGHT occur.
My guess is that Intel doesn't want to say that 3Q revenue will be
lower than 2Q revenue during the earnings announcement, so
they lowball now, and then they could at least say 3Q should
be flat from 2Q during the earnings announcement. More
likely if things continue to improve, they could say 3Q will
be better than 2Q. I do not think 3Q will be lower 2Q, unless
things deteriorate much further. Also, I think Intel wants to
be very conservative and not let the stock run ahead of itself
too fast.
