Capitalism needs some amount (not as much as we have) of government control and regulation. Pure capitalism is like anarchy: it is intrinsically unstable. Eventually one person or a small oligarchy own everything and everyone else is essentially enslaved. And revolution follows.

Does a reasonable form of capitalism require enforcement at gunpoint? No; it is probably the best attainable economic system.
