Oh, oh, Q4 will be ugly... ...if JC's rumor is true that Intel's DDR SDRAM Brookdale chipset will come out in October. That means that there will be high-volume 2 GHz P4s on a high-performance, cheap platform. Intel's PR machinery and DELL will take care for the rest. At that time (and due to Intel's excellent PR), will there be ANYONE interested in hearing that a 1.53/1.6 Palomino is equally good? Not likely, IMHO. 2GHz is just so much more sexy than 1.5333. You may not compare it with the present 1.5/1.2 situation. (Similarly: Everyone wants an Athlon 1000, no one wants an Athlon 950.) Just to think that AMD with its commitment to DDR DRAM is paving the way to Intel's success (because with DRDRAM only the P4 is a niche product and with SDRAM it will be an underperformer)... Damned, bad news! JC, you couldn't have released other news to start the weekend with?? ;-) Peter PS: AMD needs the Clawhammer with its 64 bit marketing heaven (TM Peter Luc) ASAP to counter Intel's forthcoming 2 GHz PR-machinery!
