Must read article on SCC in the March Road & Track.

Page 93 has a large article "Saab Engine Technology" with the underlying title "Optimizing internal combustion the Saab way". This article details both SVC and SCC, but the article details SCC much better than previous articles in any large circulation publications. At a glance SCC appears to be a minor modification of OCP, mainly the ability to use the piston crown as one of the sparkplug electrodes. However, as the article diagrams and describes in detail, SCC is dramatically more complicated than that. The fuel is introduced much earlier than expected, and the flow of this combustion charge back and forth across the valve seats prior to their closing is fascinating. The article also concludes with the statement that SCC may also be combined with SVC, which had been a point of discussion some while back. I think the basis of saying someone may come to market before Saab is the complication of SCC over OCP. Bringing OCP to market is much easier than bringing SCC to market. If you are interested in OE, you must read this article.

rfritz10 wastes no time in pointing out a new storyline for us to watch for. It's going to be fun seeing what happens with Ficht in terms of PWC's. Because if Bombardier continues to sell Ficht, Kawasaki and Polaris must now buy it from their arch enemy. Or face starting over with OCP. Either way OE gets paid.
