Seriously, why couldn't the gov at least plate the dollar coins with a gold alloy.

I notice a lot of people now won't even bother to bend over and pick a penny up off the sidewalk. I figure it takes me about a second to do so and that's a tax-free income of $36.00 an hour and also a good bending exercise.

I can't believe the thousands of coke bottles I used to collect as a kid and drag to the store in a wagon for the 2 cents refund. But my best enterprise was to sell chances on a chicken. People would ask, "Who is this lottery for the benefit of?" Not being very advanced in huckstering finance, we answered, "For us." Most people still bought a ten cent chance anyway. The chicken we bought live and killed. It was a scraggly thing. We had heard that it helped to put it in boiling water to get the feathers off. So we stirred it around in a pot of boiling water for ten or fifteen minutes. Didn't hear any complaints from the winner of the half-cooked chicken, though--a Professor of French not given to making a ruckus about anything.
