James, let me give you a far-out ferinstance, and see if you still agree.
Are you listed in the phone book? (If not, why not? Hiding in a cave?) But let's assume, like most people it is.
You have a co-worker that doesn't like you. Maybe you got his promotion.
Now, your co-worker doesn't know where you live, but they know your name, and you are listed in the phone book. They look you up, and note your address.
Now, there's this motorcycle gang that likes to ride near your office, and every now and then, there they are just as you are leaving work. One day you cut them off, and there was an unpleasant incident. Your co-worker saw it.
Remembering this, your co-worker waits on the street after work, flags-down the motorcycle gang, and gives them your name and phone number, and explans that this was the guy that cut them off the other day.
Do you have any gripe against your co-worker? After all, you put your name in the book. You wanted to be found, right? |
