Hello Frank, Any thoughts on AT&T threatening to pull its local phone service from New York and Texas? This is one opinion.

AT&T must realize that its “last mile” problems should be addressed at the “last mile”–with state and local regulators, consumer groups and all the rest at the local level. AT&T needs these groups as allies if the campaign to paint the RBOCs as bogie men is to have any sway at all. One other reality that AT&T may have missed: The “last mile” business means “retail” business.
