I found the article about Intel losing HP's PA_RISC foundry business to IBM very interesting.

Yes indeed. Contrary to the conclusions by the author, I see
no diminishing in HP's PA RISC effort either in design or commitment. I think they are actively hedging their bets. As for IBM's Shahidi, I know him very well. In my opinion, he, at times, is subject to exaggeration. I still maintain that only a 10%-15% speed improvement(all other things equal) due to SOI will be realized. Also, the infrastructure needed to generate the quantity of wafers needed even for AMD's share of the x86 market is considerable and very much
unappreciated by this thread.
