Anyway, I don't really see that it matters very much. The worrying part is whether or not they actually know what to do with the damned things once they are installed. Does MOT produce SOI wafers now? Any of these wafers used in a high performance process? (The G4+ is on standard HiP6, AFAIK.)

I don't think Moto produces it's own SOI wafers and I don't think Moto plans to go to SOI for G4+ until .13um which for Moto is probably more than a year out. Recall.... they just introduced (Jan?) G4+ at .18um (their first .18um processor) at 733MHz. Do you think Moto has served Apple well???
Also, could you give me an estimate of the numbers of implanters/furnaces/etc. AMD will need based on your estimate of how many SOI based processors AMD will sell in 2002? Also, do you think AMD will have a bulk .13um Si process as well and when? If so, what would be run in bulk vs. SOI? Just curious.
