About 10-11 years ago, I spilled coffee with cream and sugar in an brand new Epson keyboard. This was a 3 thousand dollar computer, the replacement board was close to 300 or 400 dollars.
We spent 165 to have it cleaned, and the keys still stuck. That's when I first discovered Key Tronic's KB101, and have used them to this day. I am typing on one. They are the best boards ever made (the KB101 and KB101 Plus).
Thus I justify rebuilding it.
In most cases the keyboard that comes with a new PC is throw away.
Once you open one up, you will notice that there is a lot that goes into a keyboard that we all take for granted.
That's why I love my KB101, well built and designed. I have not seen another that I could get use to. That's why I bought a pile of switches and rubber springs for rebuilding them.
When it slows down I am going to rebuild the one I took apart, the reason I hesistate is it's going to be a big job.
Some of the advice on the sites out there is not the real world. I wonder if these people tried what they tell others?
Oops, my firewall just alerted me something strange is going on. Humm, I think this is a trojan or spyware or something, something wants out, but can't find any info on it. Not a name, just strange characters. The 3rd time in 2 months. Twice while on SI...... Hummm.... |
