Cleveland man returns $640,000 from
armored car

CLEVELAND (Reuters) - A neatly dressed man who scooped up $640,000 in fresh, plastic-wrapped cash
that tumbled out of an armored car two days ago nervously returned his haul Friday, the FBI (news - web sites)
said.

``He realized that he couldn't spend the money because it was all serialized and recorded,'' said FBI agent Stu
Shoaff, who described the man as ``nervous.'' Federal prosecutors decided not to bring charges against the
man, who was not identified.

The man telephoned the Federal Reserve (news - web sites) Bank in Cleveland Friday to ask how to safely
return the money. The three packages, each weighing 42 pounds, with the bills visible, were part of a shipment
destined for Akron, Ohio. They fell out of the armored car Wednesday.

FBI agents met the man at the bank, reclaimed the money, and released him.

A witness's detailed description of the man -- in his 30s and dressed in a suit coat and tie -- had been
publicized.

``Due to the fact he waited as long as he did, I don't know if he'll get anything'' as far as a reward, Shoaff said.
The witness could receive some of a $75,000 reward offered by the armored car company. REUTERS
