Back up 150 years in this country or 200-250 years in England. Seven-year-old children working because it is perfectly legal. Safety? What's that? And we don't worry about suits because we don't pay you enough to afford a lawyer. These weren't pure capitalism, but they're close enough. Without some regulation and control, capitalism puts essentially all power into the hands of a few who own the economy. Pure capitalism has never been tried, but in that way it is like pure communism- -it isn't stable in the real world. It's purity is quickly sullied by a public demand to control it. (Pure communism has a different problem. People simply do not behave the way it demands.
