Back up 150 years in this country or 200-250 years in England. Seven-year-old children working because it is perfectly legal. Safety? What's that? And we don't worry about suits because we don't pay you enough to afford a lawyer.

Why back up at all? All of these things are going on today, often in countries that we cite - and subsidize - as bastions of economic liberty.

The bottom line is that without a government with the will and authority to pass - and enforce - laws protecting the rights of the weak, even when those laws are opposed by the powerful, capitalism very quickly devolves into good old-fashioned feudalism.
