For what its worth, a VC guy I know in Austin (who is pretty well connected) said its common knowledge that the layoffs are coming (apparently upper management has already told those down the line...things have been agreed upon, etc..)..he was as mystified as me as to why Dell would (flat-out) deny the WSJ report from the other day....
The disturbing thing is not the cuts; I would almost say that's a positive (for the stock; not the poor people being layed off). The disturbing thing is, if true, (and I'm the first to admit, at this point, I am talking "coffee talk" here, not facts yet).....if true, why the (continued) obfuscation by Dell's management. Do they think Dell's shareholders are not smart to handle the facts here? ...Too many instances in the past 2 years (of Dell's management surprisingly, mysteriously, "accidentally" getting the facts wrong; or delaying the truth) IF this turns out to be true...
(If I'm wrong here, I gladly go slink back in my cave.....Note: I don't have a position currently, but was thinking on picking some up on further pullback)
BTW- Dell is too good a company to pull such stuff...Why? Tell the truth. Always. and on a timely basis... |
