Well, that is, indeed, part of the problem, isn't it? With Iran Contra, we are not talking about venality, nor remotely about selling out US security. We are talking about patriotic American acting according to conscience in the furtherance of US interests. Nor was it an attempted "coup", by any stretch of the imagination. Traditionally, the president has had broad latitude in the conduct of foreign policy, and the Boland Amendment should never have been passed........
