Jack and Ray, As with all situations there are pieces of truth in everything. My current view is the OC-3, OC-12, and OC-48 business has became quite common and is impacted by lack of spending at the last few miles. On the other hand CSCO is too new to the OC-192 service to have much sales to warrant an inventory buildup. In fact Chambers said the OC-192 sales growth was linear as a opposed to blocky for the lessor rate systems. I also offer a brdrtwn post from the yahoo club suggesting CSCO is coming alive in the OC-192 arena. New csco router using silicon not asic. They say that the new product is being developed in San Jose by Cisco engineers under the code-name “The Manhattan Project” and that its official product name will be the ONS 15232. It’s a 32-port OC192 switch, Light Reading’s sources say, and they add that Cisco is building the product using commercially available silicon, rather than custom ASICs. As I remember the lack of ports was the big beef about the just released OC-192 router. see the rest of the story at: lightreading.com
