Greg,

For QQQ trading, there's a neat little system developed by the BTTT-MAX traders. Use a 5 period EMA and 8 period SMA on the hourly chart, and go long when the 5 EMA crosses up through the 8 SMA, and when the 8 SMA crosses back down through the 5 EMA, sell long and go short; repeat ad infinitum.

Works just as well on a 30 minute chart also. They have back tested it extensively, and have been forward trading it for some time. Not huge gains, but consistent base hits, with relatively little drawdown. Also, doesn't require constant vigilance, as buy/sell signals only seem to occur every couple of days or so. Gaps don't seem to be much of a problem, as the system seems to get you in on the correct side of the subsequent gap. Might want to check it out.

I'm wondering how it might work with calls and puts.
