RE:It is time we segregate property and vice crimes from violent crime and treat them differently. I totally agree. Even some of the most ardent "war on drugs" supporters are seeing that mandatory sentences for small time drug pushers and users aren't working. I have a young nephew who will spend over a year in jail basically because he is a recreational drug user. A total waste of his time and the state's money, IMHO. When he was out of jail, he was working and paying taxes like most everyone else.
