WF10 and Drugs for the Poor

Interesting article in the Financial Times today. Oxfam backed by several large institutional investors is taking GlaxoSmithKline to task over the issue of putting drugs profits ahead of delivering life saving drugs to poor countries in desperate needs of vital medicines. Oxfam wants GSK to withdraw their drug patents registered in poorer countries so that cheaper alternatives can be delivered to these states.

I believe I read a post earlier (by Wilyovet?) that our expectations for financial success with medicines like WF10 may be limited by societies obligation to make them available to a broad portion of the world's population at no or little cost.

I am sure we will not hear the last of this issue in the coming months and years.
