<<< If SEG and QNTM are seeing orders drop in an environment that is seeing demand grow at a constant rate, one must wonder who is taking the order demand from them? Good Luck >>>

Seagate Drops Distributors -- Hard Drives:Switching Allegiances
By Pedro Pereira & Jeff O'Heir
Distributors that escaped the ax when Seagate Technology Inc. cut five wholesalers from its channel infrastructure see the move as an opportunity to increase their hard-drive business and control pricing.
Conversely, distributors that lost the hard-drive vendor's authorization said they will try to increase business with Seagate competitors such as Western Digital Corp., Irvine, Calif., and Milpitas, Calif.-based Quantum Corp.
Gates/Arrow Distributing Inc., Greenville, S.C., one of the distributors Seagate dropped, already signed a deal to distribute Western Digital's 2.1-Gbyte and 4.3-Gbyte Enterprise Series Ultra SCSI hard drives.
Liuski International Inc., Norcross, Ga., another company cut by Seagate, will continue its OEM relationship with the vendor, said Peter Schneider, Liuski's director of marketing. Meanwhile, Liuski will try to recoup revenue loss with sales of hard drives by Western Digital, Micropolis Corp., and JTS Corp. ... Copyright (c) 1997 CMP Media Inc. >>
