Neocon,

I can agree that the media can influence moral values. I tend to agree that a direct relationship between media created violence and the real thing has yet to be established. Certainly certain behaviors do increase, as in the case of several of these very young kids who shoot people with guns while not fully cognitive of the repercussions of such actions. Do countless repetitive acts of violence promote this behavior? Dunno, but I am certain they don't lessen it.

As for Ozzy Osborne, you may not agree with what he sings about, but his is one of the greatest voices in the history of rock. Toss in the fact that the late great Randy Rhodes played guitar on the first two albums and you have to take his music serious. Until you hear "Tonight" don't close the door on him. Rhodes volume pot swells on the guitar are very interesting.

"Eyes Wide Shut" is Kubrick. Need you say more? Even if his swan song was not his best, it was still better than most. It appears that Spielburg is going to finish his last project, call A.I. I read that the script was not finished when Kurbrick died. Too bad, as one more Kubrick film would have been wonderful. He is in my top five of all time. We will have to discuss Kubrick sometime....and there is much to discuss.

"Natural Born Killers" stands out for me because of the kids that claimed it did influence them. As you may recall they did some killing in the style of the movie. Was it the movie or just kids with the bad chemicals in the brain reacting to the first trigger they encountered? Who knows, but would those people be alive if Stone didn't make the film? I dunno.

The Captain was the best. I used to watch it everyday with a tupperware bowl on my head. No, I don't know why I did this (please note earlier comment regarding ping pong balls).

I am not saying that the media is to blame, but again, they sure ain't the cure.

HAGO
