NovaWest appoints Schau to the advisory committee NovaWest Resources Inc NVE Shares issued 18,378,450 Feb 12 close $0.32 Tue 13 Feb 2001 News Release Mr. Patrick O'Brien reports NovaWest Resources has appointed Dr. Mikkel Schau, PGeo, to the company's advisory committee. Dr. Schau is a resident of Brentwood Bay, B.C. Dr. Schau was a key member of NovaWest's Raglan exploration team in 1997 and 1998. He worked closely with Dr. Peter Fischer, PGeo, and together they were instrumental in the company's "model driven" discoveries at Raglan and in preparing the postprogram reports and maps. Dr. Schau has more than 30 years consulting experience in the private mining industry, the GSC and teaching at both McMaster University and the University of Manitoba. For the past five years, Dr. Schau specialized in platinum group mineral deposits. Dr. Schau earned his BSc from the University of British Columbia in 1964, spent a year in McMaster University, assisted in H.V. Warren's geochemistry labs at UBC and received his PhD from UBC in 1969. During his distinguished career, he has mounted numerous regional field programs into remote regions of northeastern Canada. Dr. Schau has led 11 mapping expeditions for the GSC resulting in the results being noted in papers and maps on the regional geology and mineral potential of parts of Nunavut. He has considerable experience in mapping ultramafic rocks (the archean Prince Albert group) and layered basic complexes on these expeditions. Dr. Schau is recognized as a pioneer in applying new digital technologies to mapping geology and has published papers on the topic. Dr. Schau has provided his expertise as a consultant to recognized major and junior mining companies providing them with services ranging from preliminary grass roots prospecting through petrological, geochemical and numerate interpretations. Recently he has worked on ultramafic mineral bodies and their related PGM, nickel, copper and cobalt mineral deposits in the Raglan Belt of Nunavik (Northern Quebec) where he has assisted in the location and documentation of new platinum group mineral (PGM) showings. Dr. Schau has considerable experience in mineral exploration in remote, sensitive areas. Dr. Schau's recent experience in PGM mineralization continues to complement his previous work in nickel, copper, lead, zinc, silver, uranium and gold showings.
