Jim - Re: "...how long does it take to convert an existing facility to to handle production of the P II. Given that they are using .35 micron fab process for Pentiums Classics ,"

To run Pentium II wafers (0.35 micron) in a fab that was already running the same 0.35 micron process for Pentium/MMX devices requires only logistical changes.

A new set of Pentium II reticles for the steppers needs to be ordered and checked out for defects. Then, a fast-throughput check-out run is usually specified to make sure there are no "gotchas" with the reticle set. These "blue-flame" lots may take just a few weeks, give or take, depending upon priorities.

If wafer sort (pre-sort actually) is done at the fabs to monitor/forecast yields, then appropriate test tapes and probe cards are required for the pre-sort area. Again, these are logistical matters since these items presumably have already been manufactured for other fab sites.
