Please understand.

Everything I say is deliberate. Don't tax your brain waves wondering.

"I believe that self awareness happens some time before birth (I have no idea when). I personally believe that self awareness is a good demarcation point for when abortion would be acceptable or not. But since I don't know when it happens, I have a tough time telling someone else what to do with their body or imposing my belief of what the demarcation point should be."

And I posed a question as to considering brain wave activity as a possible "demarcation" point. I asked that question, because I don't agree that "self awareness" should be the criteria. There are people lying in hospital beds that are arguably not "self aware" so I do not accept self awareness as a basis for what would be called "acceptable" killing.

So please focus.

I did not say "brain waves" = "viability".

When I used the term viability in association with brain waves, it was that the LACK of brain wave activity is considered a legal definition for death.

>>Are you suggesting that 40 days, the age that an embryo has brain waves, is the date you would no longer be comfortable permitting abortion? YES/NO <

At this point I haven't decided. I am considering.

Since I used to be 100% pro-choice and have gradually evolved my position to limiting abortion (hopefully commensurate with scientific discovery in fetal development) I would have to say that for now, concerning the destruction of human life I would tend to "err" on the side of preservation. Brain wave activity seems to be a logical, demonstrable "demarcation".
