eMachines Announces eMonster 1000Biz for Small Business
Low Price eMonster 1000Biz Breaks Barriers To Computing Power, Performance and Reliability
IRVINE, Calif., Feb 13, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- eMachines(TM), Inc. (Nasdaq: EEEE chart, msgs), the third largest vendor of desktop PCs sold through U.S. retailers, today announced the eMonster 1000Biz, a breakthrough small business computer that delivers the reliability of Microsoft(R) Windows(R)2000, and the power of a 1GHz Intel(R) Pentium(R) III processor in a PC configuration priced at a very affordable $799.

"The eMonster 1000Biz is the most powerful business PC we have ever offered, and is priced to be affordable by even the smallest member of the rapidly expanding small business market," said Stephen Dukker, President and CEO of eMachines, Inc. "The amount of power at this low price makes buying the eMonster 1000Biz a wise financial decision for a small business owner to make."

eMachines is known for offering low-cost, high-value computers that include a variety of useful software and Internet products. Scheduled for availability in the second quarter of 2001, the eMonster 1000Biz includes a wide array of small business-oriented software and Internet products from Microsoft, AOL(R), vJungle and others to a package geared to turn small businesses into large profit centers powered by some of the latest in PC and Internet technology.

The eMonster 1000Biz powers its Windows 2000 environment with a high-horsepower configuration that adds 128MB of system memory, a 48x CD-ROM drive and a 20GB hard disk to the 1GHz Pentium III processor; speakers and a floppy disk drive are also included. Internet communications are accessible through the included 56K modem or via a broadband connection accessed through the included 10/100 Ethernet network interface card (NIC).

Windows2000 Professional Enhances Performance & Reliability

eMachines selected Windows2000 Professional for the eMonster 1000Biz because it is the highest performance and most reliable operating system ever offered on a PC, according to studies by Ziff Davis and NTSL. Its interface assures small business owners already familiar with the WindowsME or Windows98 interface that they can quickly take advantage of powerful business tools in Networking and Internet Connection to easily and quickly set up their operating environments, including networks.

Windows2000's reliability ensures that those networks are accessible through the installed NIC or modem, which makes always-on broadband connections even more powerful. The eMonster 1000Biz can also be added to more advanced networks powered by Windows2000 Advanced Server, which can provide a more sophisticated Internet and network solution for medium-sized businesses.

In addition to Windows2000, the eMonster 1000Biz will include Microsoft Money 2001 and Microsoft Works 6.0 installed and ready to use. Both programs are ideally suited for the home-based and small business owner. Money 2001 includes facilities for invoice receipt and payment, multiple bank and vendor account management and online cash and investment management. Most important for the small business, Money 2001 keeps track of the company's financial "health," warning the small business owner when debt is too high, or if investments are not performing in line with market trends, or if the business' cash flow may be inadequate for future plans.

Microsoft Works 6.0 provides small businesses with a sophisticated, integrated office software environment that enables them to analyze their business' performance, create sophisticated correspondence, and organize projects. The templates included with Works 6.0 make it easy for small businesses to look like big businesses, and even enable the easy use of photographs and other graphic images in print or electronic correspondence.

New eMachines Small Business Center

eMonster 1000Biz users will have access to the new eMachines Small Business Center, a powerful, integrated collection of business applications and services accessible via the Internet. Using the eMonster 1000Biz and Windows2000 as a platform, the eMachines Small Business Center provides almost everything a small business needs to manage people, money, sales, communications and operations, in a unique combination designed to increase productivity and efficiency. Applications are accessed through an integrated interface available on the Internet, and are delivered through Applications Service Provider (ASP) technology.

Developed by vJungle (www.vjungle.com), a Seattle, WA-based software and Internet company, the eMachines Small Business Center delivers users applications of its own creation as well as applications created by other Internet partners. Once a user has signed up, the applications are accessed through a customizable page and include bookkeeping, employee payroll, customer billing, general-purpose printing, and fax facilities accessible via the Internet and all integrated through vJungle's OpenEX platform. Extra communications included in the eMachines Small Business Center include chat, Web-based conferencing, special e-mail, and group calendaring, which are useful for small businesses using a virtual company mode of operations.

eMonster 1000Biz users will be able to access the Internet via AOL's NetCenter for Business which includes a variety of information and products useful to the small business. In addition, the user will have one-click access to a variety of top small business publications on the Web.

Windows 2000's stability, power, easy networking, and general ease of use combined with the amazing speed of the Intel Pentium III at 1GHz, and the high performance and quality of the peripherals create a state-of-the-art high-powered computer. When combined with a wide array of software and Internet services useful to small businesses, the eMonster 1000Biz offers one of the best values in small business computing available today. "Thanks to the eMonster 1000Biz, lack of computing power, performance, and reliability are no longer barriers to making the best use of PC technology in small businesses," said Dukker.
