buybuy,

To respond to your automobile analogy, Intel makes processors that range from a Rolls to a Volkswagen, and has demonstrated the ability to do so in volumes sufficient to meet demand and at prices that have continually expanded the market and kept competition at bay. Intel continues to drive along the technology curves for this mass market. Intel is well aware of what happens if it fails to fully exploit technology that is suitable for the mass market, or if it fails to produce in the quantities and price ranges that elasticity of demand has engendered.

In any mass-market product line, there are high-margin products and low-margin products. Intel currently makes lots of profit from the entire spectrum.

Seems to me that this formula continues to work very well for Intel and consumers - are you saying anything different?

Best regards,

Arno
