When I was in the military some years ago, there were two terms widely used which used to drive me crazy. One was blatantly wrong, and the other was wrong, but a little less obvious.

The first was the nonsensical term irregardless, which seems to stem from some desire to make the word "regardless" stronger...or something. What the unnecessary prefix does, of course, is render the opposite meaning - making whatever it is regarded.

The second was/is orientate, as in, "All right, lets orientate our maps." I guess orienting them wasn't good enough; better that - in the military - they be...'orientated.'

We all do the there/their/they're thing once in awhile.
