Have you been to the Usenet (where anyone can go)? Or Yahoo stock chat? I used to hang out in the alternative science areas of Usenet to satisfy my need for discussion. Now it is overrun by swearing idiots who don't have a complete idea between them. Usenet is useless unless it is moderated. There are a lot of Bozos on SI too, but less than Usenet. I think moderation is a good thing. It is not the same as censorship. People can appeal to the moderator to be allowed back on. If you feel you have ideas that need to go unchallenged then create your own unmoderated thread.
