The last eight showed one of Reagan's central ideas, Trickle down. Because we had a booming economy the poor got hired. I read an article from a venture capitalist who said when he graduated from university people with PHD's were working at 7-11. All Reagan ever said was a very simple thing. He said that if our businesses are prospering than this will trickle down to the poorest elements of society and bring them up. I dont know what age you are but I remember how miserable it was in the Carter years. 20 % interest rates and a miserable economy. Reagan ended that and brought rates down. Dont forget that in those 8 years the Democrats spent all that money on social programs. It took 2 to Tango. My observation was that ROnald wanted to defeat the Soviet Union so that he just capitulated to the Democrats and said give me my military dollars and you can have your social programs. However the tearing down of the Soviet Union gave the world a huge peace dividend. The social programs destroyed the people it intended to help
