Oftimes new generation gear is last available for subsea applications due to its limited market.

I believe GX turned up a system last summer(?) with a 3,000 Km reach without amplification, from WA to CA. I cannot remember who supplied the gear, or when it was to be fully operational. Anybody remember?

GX prides itself as the first seamless global optical network, when in fact it lacks the new optical switches from CORV....I was not aware that one needed Corvis products to be a global net...why is that?
