The more I think about it, the more I tend to believe that drive manufacturers may not wish to publicly announce the fact that they have signed keepered media agreements/contracts with Ampex. Why would they want their competitors to know they have increased capacity cheaply, thereby giving themselves an advantage over those who have not? Especially since it might take some time for production of the "keepered" drives to commence. By signing non-disclosure statements, they would be able to get a jump start over other manufacturers in the highly competitive disk drive industry.
