Rhythms NetConnections Successfully Transitions Thousands of DSL Customers to EarthLink
Companies Quickly Move Residential Customers From Financially Challenged ISP
ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Rhythms NetConnections Inc.(TM) (Nasdaq: RTHM - news), an international provider of broadband communication services, today announced that it has successfully transitioned thousands of former Flashcom digital subscriber line (DSL) customers to EarthLink, Inc. (Nasdaq: ELNK - news), the nation's second-largest Internet service provider (ISP).

On December 7, 2000, Rhythms(TM) announced that it had signed an agreement with its partner, Flashcom, to transition approximately 7,000 Flashcom customers receiving Rhythms' DSL service to Rhythms' network.

``This was a first-of-its kind effort between Rhythms and EarthLink,'' said Steve Stringer, President and Chief Operating Officer of Rhythms. ``We were glad to be able to smooth the transition to these valued customers by keeping them on our network with EarthLink, one of the most financially stable ISPs in the country.''

Rhythms and EarthLink determined the technical and procedural requirements to make the transition as quick and convenient as possible for residential customers. Communication plans included notification via the companies' Web sites, letters and personal telephone calls. Most of the transitions were completed within four weeks, in time for families to enjoy their access for the holidays.
