The fine sport of grubbing mightily amuses me.
When I first heard the expression several years ago, it made me think of extracting bait from the soil, though that is one pursuit in which I've never indulged...:-)(Nor will I in the foreseeable future<g>)
Grubbing can also be a subtle art, as in the case of matching the topic to the number, etc.
Today, I have a personal grub to share, to wit, this is my 10,000th post on SI.
mr.mark, that kind soul and S-T-P who has assisted me often with computer technical stuff, alerted me to this imminent grub only yesterday.
Were it not for mm, I'd have blithely wasted it with some serious tome about an overvalued stock or the fact that SI frequently s#cks.<g>
Instead, I took a few minutes to reflect on grubbing. Had I more time, I probably could have said something meaningful.:-)
I'm glad my 10,000th post happened on Valentine's Day, too. Seems only right somehow. I've enjoyed the last 4 years of posting on SI. I hope that the current problems can be rectified so as to allow a few more.
This forum has given me the chance to meet a lot of good people, with good insights and hearts willing to share. You don't find that everywhere or every day.
So Happy Valentine's Day, SI'ers and smooches all around!
