More shutdowns on the way. Canada's McWatters Mining may cease operations unless capital raised New York--Feb. 14--Canada's McWatters Mining Inc. said Wednesday it could be required to permanently cease all of its mining operations unless it is able to obtain additional capital. The company announced this morning that it would shut down its Sigma-Lamaque gold mine in the province of Quebec and would review operations at its Kiena gold complex in about three months. Falcon Gold Zimbabwe Chairman warns mines could be closed Johannesburg--Feb. 14--The Chairman of Falcon Gold Zimbabwe, a subsidiary of Luxembourg-listed Falcon Investment Holdings Societe Anonyme, warned that should costs at its mines continue to increase at unacceptable rates and the Zimbabwe dollar exchange rate remains constant, working costs will soon overtake gold income and cessation of mining activities and closure of all mines is inevitable.
