You underestimate Intel. Intel has something similar in design The thing about a transport, its not much good if it can't transport anywhere except home base. As with virtually all technological innovation, it is not the best design that wins but the one adopted by the most people. AMD's non-proprietary attitude to LDT, has scored them a big win here. Contrasts with Intel refusing to license the P4 bus architecture to the very chipset manufacturers they needed to help with promotion of the P4.
