Seems to me it takes two to tango, and there's nothing moral about sticking all the choice on one party and no options on the other.

I was prepared to give the man a financial out if the woman wanted a baby and deceived the man into thinking a pregnancy couldn't result from their activity. I think that 18 years of child support is too high a penalty for being a sap.

For a man who is indiscrete or unlucky, I don't think it's unfair to have to take his share of the responsibility. He can minimize his cost by convincing her to have an abortion or give the baby up for adoption. If she won't, well, it's a shame, but forcing an abortion is, IMO, morally unacceptable. Once the child is born, there are three parties who have an interest. The baby is a truly innocent party, blameless, and dependent. Its interests have to rule.

Moral of the story: know your partner; no excuses.
