The practice of "guests" aboard Air Force One lifting matches, napkins, coffee mugs, etc. as souvenirs has gone on for some time. No doubt the GAO has a "shrinkage" category in its AF1 budget. I suspect what was taken in late January from AF1 was probably similar to what was taken from AF1 in the closing days of the Carter-Reagan-Bush Sr. administrations. This is a zero story on a scale of 1 to 10.

Bush also says this is a non-story. So why don't the Repubs believe him? The longer the GOP attack dogs in Congress try to sink their fangs into Clinton, the longer Big Bill remains an icon. If the Repubs were smart, they'd let Big Bill ride off into the Harlem sunset. But the Repubs aren't smart. They're stupid. Still barrels of piss and vinegar left over from the fact that they couldn't muster a majority on either impeachment count. They still can't get over the fact that 7 years and $55 million later, the best the Starr Chamber could do was send Susie Mac to jail for a few years.

I agree 100 percent. Too bad Burton, Specter and the rest of the right-wing congressional Repubs don't think likewise. Even though I voted for Al Gore and not for GWB, I think GWB's done an OK job in his first month in office. So let's see what kind of magic he can work when the spotlight's on him, and not on Big Bill.
