That's a great article. I hope someone will comment on the availability of 40gig per channel undersea systems.

For those who don't know, SDL/JDSU has an exclusive supply agreement with Alcatel's undersea division for 980nm pump lasers. They also sell to Tyco, though they're not allowed to use the name publicly. (Analysts often do anyway.)
